From Diapers to Dreams

Tommy was a true hero. Not only did he serve his country proudly, but also rushed to anyone’s side to help. I was lucky enough to witness this from a young age. I watched as Tommy matured into the man he was. As I sit here and look back on all the memories we shared together, nothing pops out at me. For the past two years, I have contemplated on what memory to share, but I couldn't come up with one. Not one memory was better than the last. Growing up together was the memory itself. Tommy and I knew each other since we were in diapers, went through grade school together, and then on to high school. Each year our lockers were next to each other and our homerooms were the same. I was there each and every day, not knowing that the memories we were making would mean so much to me now. I watched him play paper football each morning with fellow classmates. I watched as he would cheer at the pep rallies and go all out for the different theme days. I watched as he tried to find books in his messy locker. I watched as he studied his hardest to get into West Point. I was there for all of it. I don't treasure any memory more than the one prior because they all mean the world to me now. Not a week goes by that I don't think about him. I am so proud of Tommy and all that he achieved in his life. I was so blessed to grow up with such a smart, funny, and honorable young man.
